(Chattanooga, TN. and Kansas City) The Association for Visual Arts (AVA) in Chattanooga, KC Digital Drive, Film Society KC and KC Film + Media Office are collaborating on a milestone event, Capture: A Community Filmmaking Project Sept. 18-20, 2015. For the first time, crowd-sourced film footage will be made into fully realized short films by teams of professional editors and musicians simultaneously in two cities in two different states. And only one film will win the $800 prize for Best in Show. Which city will it be from?

“Capture will challenge people in both cities to take their cameras and smartphones to the streets to film up to five 30-second clips that give a window into their community,” said Jason Harper,  KC Digital Drive.

Over a 24-hour period from September 18-19, filmmakers in KC and Chattanooga will record and upload up to five, 30-second clips around a specific theme [theme to be announced Sept. 18]. Then over the ensuing 24 hours, teams of editors and musicians take bi-city footage and turn it into fully realized short films with scores to be premiered on Sunday, September 20. The 48-hour film contest comes on the heels of Techweek Kansas City, Sept. 14-20.
