The KC Film + Media Office, Missouri Film Office and Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission will be at the Film Offices booth at the entrance to Level B’s Script-to-Screen area to welcome you to our show-and-tell! 

Storyboarding – “Visualizing a Film”Vince_Brawlhalla_Visual development
Vince Medellin will share character  development boards, environment boards and storyboards  from his own work as a visual developer/art director as  well as storyboards from the films of local director, Patrick  Rae. You will see how a production is ‘seen’ well before any  camera roll. Plus you’ll have a chance to give storyboarding  a try yourself!

Casting  – “Audition to Land the Part”wright laird casting
Heather Laird of Wright/Laird Casting in Kansas City will be will be at Script-to-Screen Saturday, June 27th in the Casting Booth area. Heather has worked on 65+ films including THE GOOD LIE, PETE’S DRAGON, WINTERS BONE, ALL ROADS LEAD HOME (screening at Maker Faire) and more than 1,000 commercial and print projects such as Google, McDonalds, Walmart, MetLife, Microsoft, United Way, Time Warner Cable, Wendy’s, Sprint, Gillette, MasterCard and many more.  The W/L booth will provide the opportunity to observe the audition process and for the fearless, a chance to try it yourself!!

Jason-Sudeikis (2)Talent Agency Booth – “Have Your People Call My People”
Several area talent agencies will be in the Talent Agency Booth – I&I Agency, Exposure Inc and Moxie Talent Agency. You may be surprised at all of the amazing talent Kansas City has – from actors, to models, to voice over artists. Stop by the booth and they can teach you about the world of booking a job from headshots to auditions – they may even send you to one! 

Make Up – “A Stage in Transformation”  Elsa Rhae grootElsa Rhae of Elsa Rhae Creations, recently placed in  the NYXFaceAwards Top 20 artists and is a KU grad with   talent  in face and body painting. She will be here at script-to-screen  giving demos on models and also a few volunteers!

Props/Scenic – “Making Make Believe Real”Have Guns_southwestdoorway
Jerry and Linda Vest, owners of Have Guns Will Rent will have you believing you are on the set of a western movie. The name doesn’t disappoint, they rent guns, props, sets, costumes and so much more!

Production – “Lights, Camera, Action!” 
The production area is filled with lights, cameras and…action. Jon Trozzolo of Stageport and Mike Wunsch of Outpost Worldwide will have a room of production gear galore! There will be a green screen where  you are pulled out of the real world and show up somewhere far away.

The Outpost team will help you be hands on with real broadcast television cameras on dolly track and studio camera pedestals, as well as learn about professional lighting, grip equipment and many more tools of the trade!

Aerial/Drone Video – “Sweeping Shots from the Eye in the Sky”
Sean Joseph with Blackburrow Creative will stay inside this weekend just for you! He is showing off his drone camera and the beautiful footage he achieves with it!

GradePost-Production – “Stories are Built, Moods are Made”
Taylre Jones of Grade displays his coloring work at the Post-Production booth at script-to-screen. A lot goes into making movies and commericals look the way they do. He shows how changing the coloring, alters the mood and texture of a story.

KC digiSTORY Center
Ron Green from KC digiSTORY Center will be on hand digistorywith interactive digital activities. KC digiSTORY Center advances the digital storytelling industry in the central Midwest and beyond, supports current working professionals and works to develop our region’s next generation of digital storytellers.

Kansas City Film FestKCFilmFest
KCFilm Fest will help introduce the screenings and presentations at our Script-to-Screen show and tell. KCFilm Fest is an annual, juried film festival featuring more than 100 local, regional, national and international films, held in April each year. They give an opportunity for filmmakers to win recognition. From second-graders to professional filmmakers, they have the chance to show their work to real audiences and to compete in their respective categories. More than $200,000 in cash and prizes have been awarded since 1997.

KIFF will also be introducing our films and presenters at Maker Faire. KIFF focuses on documentary, narrative, and animated independent films. The festival culminates in the presentation of several awards, including an Audience Award in each category based on audience votes. KIFF attracts local, regional, and national work, as well as recognizing visiting filmmakers and screen personalities. The festival also allows for increasing public awareness of independent and classic cinema as a cultural, economic, and educational asset.

Kansas City Women in Film and Television (KCWIFT) 

KCWIFTKCWIFT’s programs support education, networking and mentoring opportunities in Kansas City and nationwide. The organization also supports programs recognizing women’s accomplishments and influence, and continues to develop new and exciting programs that open doors and create opportunities for more women to achieve their goals.

Independent Filmmakers Coalition of Kansas City (IFCKC)IFCKC
IFKKC is an organization that promotes and nurtures creative and artistic expression through film, video and media production. The IFCKC develops, assists, and serves as a resource for the local independent film and media artists in the video industry.
